China Glaze Wicked Collection 2012 - Glitter Goblin

Hello folks,

I have one of China Glazes new Halloween polishes to show you today, part of the Wicked Collection. I don't have lots of glitters in my collection as I find them a bit of a chore to wear, removal always seems to be a hassle. I'm a sucker for Halloween collections so I got over my glitter snobbery for this collection :-) This is Glitter Goblin.

This is two coats of Glitter Goblin over Misa's Bourbon on the Rocks. Glitter goblin is a glitter polish (obviously) containing brown, orange and holographic particles in a clear base. I haven't used a topcoat in these shots but I suspect these would have looked much better if I had. I picked my bottle up at Olympia Beauty but I think these are widely available now.

What do you think? Like or loath glitters?

An OMG Disaster - China Glaze GR8

Howdy Peeps

For those who didn't see on twitter, I recently suffered a polish casualty. I broke my only bottle of China Glaze OMG GR8. I was distraught to say the least. The worst thing is I had only used it twice!

Well, after mopping up the remnants, I noticed I had a little bit left in the bottom of the bottle. So I decanted the rest into an empty bottle. Here are a couple of swatches. Luckily since I've able been able to get myself a new bottle :-) :-) :-)  GR8 is probably the least revered out of the OMGs, so it was still relatively cheap (well cheaper than the others!)

Anyone else had any polish casualties? Which polish would you most miss?

HaPpY HaLLowEen!!

Happy Halloween Peoples

I think Halloween has been playing on my mind, I'm bit of a baby and a scaredy cat. I've been having the most awful nightmares! I swear, I had such a terrible dream about Zombies I woke up in a right state lol. But I can't complain, because this time of year brings such fabulous polishes. I only bought two this year though, China Glaze - It's Alive and the Wet'n'Wild Fantasy Makers Glow in the Dark polish. I'm trying to not buy every polish in sight. Luckily for my pocket, I'm not a fan of Christmas collections usually, but I'm a sucker for Halloween.

This is 3 coats of It's Alive, a stunning green based jelly containing green glitter. Good coverage, applied a little stodgy and it was a total git to get off. Didn't really work with my skin tone, but I'm not going to let a little thing like that put me off.

On another note, the wonderfully fabulous Cara @ Cara Robinson Nail Technician wrote a post about my Mushroom holo franken I sent to her a couple of weeks back. So check her out, it's a great beauty blog and Cara is lovely. I'm pretty new to the blogging community, and meeting other bloggers like Cara really makes it worthwhile. Which brings me to my second point...I've reached over 200 followers!! Blooming hell. I really appreciate the support everyone has shown my little blog. Hopefully those who have followed since I mentioned my giveaway will find something here interesting and worthwhile. Your comments have also been really supportive. SO thank you!

Before I get too gushy, enjoy your evening and Happy Halloween. Don't eat too many sweeties :-)

Pumpkin Spectraflair Franken Attempt

Afternoon All

Hope your all having a wonderful fabulous amazing weekend! Today I have for you that Pumpkin holo fraken attempt I did for Halloween. Erm not sure if its a success or not? I like the colour and I think its not a bad attempt at all but it's nothing like a pumpkin lol. More like a Squash. I couldn't tell you the exact recipe for this, I threw in anything and everything in this one. I was going for more of the outside of a pumpkin, the hide or rusk or whatever the name for it.

Okay so I have this Orange Rusty Rose colour...more like a Peach maybe? Different I suppose :-) Anyhoo it is what it is. Name for this? Couldn't think of one. None at all. My creative energies have deserted me completely. As I can't give you a recipe but I can tell you some of the polishes I used:

China Glaze - Life Preserver
Topshop - Country Bumpkin
Rimmel - Tangerine Queen
2true - Orange Metallic (not sure what shade sorry!)
Rest Clear polish and 3 scoops spectraflair

Enjoy the rest of you day and weekend peeps!

My Meh Spectraflair Fraken - A Khaki Holo

Hello Peoples!

Today I have for you another holo franken (hope your not sick of these). Let me tell you I have had so much fun with the spectraflair. It's like being a kid again playing with a chemistry set or being in science class. I'd been dreaming of a Khaki holo for quite some time, so I thought I would try and create one. This is my attempt.

It's not quite there is it? I'm a bit 'meh' over this. In theory this should be great, but it doesn't quite pack the punch I wanted to. It needs to be a deeper green. I'm going to have a search and see what other polishes I can throw in it. China Glaze - Westside Warrior might be an option. So name for this one is 'Mossy Meh'.

Recipe (approx)

10 drops Essie Sew Psyched
10 drops MUA - Shade 23
10 drops Me Me Me - Proud
5 drop Me Me Me - Patient
Rest Clear Polish
3 scoops Spectraflair

What holo franken would you make if you had the chance? I've also had an attempt at making a Pumpkin colour for Halloween. I'll get some swatched up soon to show you.

Thanks for reading!

Olympia Beauty 2011

Hello All

Well I've been a serious busy bee in the last few days, I've really struggled to update any posts. Monday I attended Olympia Beauty in Kensington London. I had been looking forward to this for months, I've never attended Olympia Beauty before and I wasn't disappointed! All my favourite nail companies under one roof! I felt like I had died and gone to polish heaven. For those not familiar with Olympia Beauty, it's London's annual trade beauty show.

I have to be totally honest. I'm a bad blogger. I took hardly any photos of my day, and the pics I did get were cack. I was that rubbish my friend took over, probably because she was embarrassed at my photography skills. I swear, I took one pic at the OPI stand, and all I got was a blurred shot of OPI's Touring America collection and the sales woman's boobs! How bad is that! Oh well, my talents must lay elsewhere. Back to the show...

The show was jam packed full of beauty brands, obviously I was hunting for the Nail Polish brands. Stands at the show included, OPI, Misa, Nubar, Sparitual, Color Club, Jessica, China Glaze and so many more...pretty much all the big companies. The best stand for me by far was Nubar.

Not only were their staff extra helpful, they had a huge range of their collections on offer. Unfortunately they didn't have their new collection, the Polished Chic Autumn Collection, but boy they had some good stuff. I was spoilt for choice. Another fantastically organised, but much smaller stall was Color Club. I got a snap of their current Back to Boho Autumn Collection and the new Christmas collection, Beyond The Mistletoe.

The disppintment of the day came from the China Glaze stand. While they appeared to have quite a few polishes and an extentsive range, they had run out of a lot of shades, including Ghoulish Glow from their 2011 Halloween Collection. They was also running low on their Metro Collection polishes. If it's a two day show have enough stock for two days China Glaze please! The stall was a little bit messy too.

I had a brilliant day. The 10th Nailympics were also being held at the show, although I didn't get to see much of it to be honest. I did see some of the entrants designs though. They were amazing. Due to the Nailympics being held at Olympia Beauty, there was endless stands dedicated to nail product and tools (lucky me). There was however still plenty of other products on show, I even tried a liquid collagen drink!

The day wouldn't have been complete without me purchasing a few *cough* bottles of polish. I think I done really well in restraining myself and not buying MORE. Here are some pics of my haul.

OPI - Smokin Havana

China Glaze - Trendsetter, It's Alive

 Lots of Nubar Polishes

Nubar - Raspberry Truffle, Iris Dust, Wildlife, Sun Gold

Gold Aura, Whimsical Coral, Midnight Glory

Sparitual - Howl, Running with Wolves, Can You Dig It

OMG! I can't wait to swatch these. I was a seriously happy bunny when I left the show. I'm already looking forward to next year :-) I also purchased a Stargazer polish, which I haven't got a pic of, shade 245 I think? A representative at the Stargazer stand also confirmed that they no longer retail through New Look Stores. They are still however available online and in some independent stores and boutiques.

Did any of you UK bloggers make it?

China Glaze - Flying Dragon

Hi Peoples

How are you all? I'm so happy it's a bank holiday this weekend! Not that I'm doing much ha ha! Today I have for you China Glaze - Flying Dragon. Now, a lot of web posts appear to moan about this polish, but I think its a great colour. Yes it dries quickly and yes it's not a brimming over the top glitter. But it's unusual and it stands out. Flying Dragon is a neon purple matte polish containing blue and purple glitter. I don't understand why folks can not accept this polish for what it is. Matte, Glitter, Neon. Simples.

And here is Flying Dragon with some topcoat slapped on (literally slapped on, most my pics were unusable because of my slap dash application tut tut).

Now this polish looks a lot better than it does here. There's much more better images on the net. So check it out. 2 coats and 1 coat topcoat. I had no problems in application although some have reported that it's slightly runny and can bleed into the cuticles.

Hope you have a wonderful bank holiday Monday!

China Glaze - Life Preserver

Hi Folks!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Here I have for you China Glaze - Life Preserver from the Anchors Away Collection. It's a muted burnt orange. I lusted after this polish as soon as I saw swatches of this collection on the net! It's the only polish from the collection I purchased. I wasn't disappointed when I got it home.

I have a weakness for orange. It reminds me when I was a kid and orange was my favourite colour. My friends favourite colours was blue or pink, but mine was orange. I think it had more to do with the fact I loved orange Smarties.

Have you got any favourites from this collection?

Remember peeps, only Smarties have the answer.

Enjoy
