Cult Nails - Toxic Seaweed

Howdy Peeps

How's it popping? Hope your all good. Today I have some swatches of Cult Nail's - Toxic Seaweed. This is a first Cult Nails purchase for me, I ordered this and Iconic.

This is 3 coats of Toxic Seaweed, a green based jelly containing glitter and flakies. Like the combination of this one. The green has a slight teal tone and the glitter and orange flakes really work. I struggled on application though, it's slightly sheer and does require a couple of coats to build up.  Maybe this is due to it having all this wonderful glitter and flakes, the suspension base I suppose needs to be quite thick. I would recommend layering this over a suitable colour or letting the layers completely dry before adding coats.

Overall I love Toxic Seaweed, the fact it's a glitter/flakie polish which is green gets a massive thumbs up in my books and totally original in my stash. Available online at Cult Nails for $10.00 (around £7.50) although it is a limited shade.

N.Fu Oh 51 vs Max Factor Fantasy Fire

Hello Ladies and Gentle

Welcome, welcome, welcome. Today's topic, a comparison of Nfu.Oh 51 and Max Factor Fantasy Fire. It took me a long while to resist the urge not to buy the notorious Nfu.Oh flakie 51. Of course I finally caved in. Imagine my annoyance when I heard that combining Max Factor's new Fantasy Fire with some flakies could recreate the wondrous glowing flakiness which the '51' possesses. Only one way to find out, in the words of Harry Hill...Fight!! No? well a comparison it shall be.

Natural Light

Flash

Nfu.Oh 51 is on all but my ring finger. My ring finger has one coat of Max Factor's Fantasy fire, then one coat of Nubar 2010. All combinations have been layered over one coat of H and M's Notoriously Beautiful, as both Fantasy Fire and 51 are quite sheer. As you can see the Fantasy Fire/2010 combo gives a very similar effect to Nfu.Oh's 51. Not total dupes, Nfu.Oh 51 has more of that glowing iridescent  pink shimmer, but if your looking for a cheaper alternative (Nfu.Oh retails for £14.95 here in the UK) then this could be your answer.

And don't forget, I have a bottle of Fantasy Fire for grabs in my Spring Giveaway!!

Nail Pop - Sequin Effect

Hello Everyone

I've finally got my hands on some Nail Pop flakies. Now let me tell you, these polishes are so elusive I nearly gave up hope. I had to go to five different Superdrugs to track these down. I wouldn't mind if I lived in some far remote place but I live in London! So without further ado I give you Nail Pop - Sequin Effect.

Sequin Effect is a sheer polish containing green, gold, orange and in some angles blue flakes. Only required 1 coat. This is Sequin Effect over Rimmel Black. Glad to see that this trend has finally made it over to a UK brand other than Andrea Fulerton. Price £5.00.

Anyone else finding these hard to track down?

Topshop - Poison Ivy

Howdy Peoples

Green polish today! They cheer me up. I've been sporting China Glaze Westside Warrior mostly this week and I loves it. Now, a different kinda green...Topshop - Poison Ivy. A deep green shimmer, has an almost glass flecked  appearance, well contains smaller particles then say Zoya Edyta? (dunno if I'm making sense or talking doo doo but I shall continue)

Superb pigmentation in this one, only required 2 coats, and I was being extra again. Love the blackened look of Poison Ivy, the name reminds me of Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy Character in Batman and Robin.

Well, I couldn't leave it alone could I. Poison Ivy presented me with a marvelous opportunity to try my Colour Changing Topcoat on a dark green.

Again like my other experiments with this topcoat it changed the tone of Poison Ivy when layered over the top. Really complex I think, If your a fan of dark murky polishes, you might like this combo. I loved it (of course).

So was I done? Who Me? Never? I then went into a wild frenzy and decided that I needed something more...''Flakies!'' I told myself practically frothing at the mouth, ''I need flakies!!!''...So I then went a bit stupid and added a coat of Nubar 2010.

It actually didn't go too bad. A tad to far perhaps, but he who dares and all that malarky.

What do you think? Ever gone a step too far with a wild layering frenzy?

Andrea Fulerton Trio Nail Polish - Rainfall

Hi Everyone!

Yes, It's Friday and I have that Friday flakie feeling! Seriously how wonderful has this weather been?! I'm loving the sunshine!

I have another flakie polish for you today Andrea Fulterton's Trio - Rainfall. Now I know my last review of the trio polishes wasn't so flattering, I had some serious gloopy applications problems going on, but I thought I would give this brand another chance at redeeming itself seeing as I loved the Andrea Fulterton's Mischa so much.

This is 2 coats of the flakie polish contained in the Trio. I only used this polish as I wasn't blown away by the colour of the second polish (the metallic blue), it looks nice enough but nothing special. The 'flakie' polish in this trio is a bright blue/purple/blurple sheer base containing blue/green flakies.

I used 2 coats of the flakies on 2 coats of OPI - Yoga-ta get this blue a gorgeous navy blue polish. I love this combo so much. I couldn't stop staring at my nails, truly mesmerising. My pics don;t do this any  justice. If I was to suggest getting any of these trio polishes, I would suggest getting this one. It's my favourite so far. Using the flakie polish over an OPI polish gave me no problems at all.

I'm going to try using the flakie polish with the other Trio blue metallic polish and see what results I get. I have also included a couple of Andrea Fulterton products in the giveaway I have planned, but that's not til I reach my follower milestone :-)

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Topshop - Adornment

Hi All!

Okay, this is the third consecutive purple polish post and I'm sorry if you don't likey the purples, but I'm quite fond of purple.

Today I have for your the pics I took using Adornment from Topshop, one of the polishes I swatched in last weeks post (here). I started off with a purple polish for a base and decided on Me Me Me - Wild. I then used 2 coats of Topshop's Adornment over the top.

Now I know this is hardly Nfu.Oh #51 but Topshop I salute you for trying! Adornment is a lovely polish in its own right. I reckon this would look lovely over pink shades too.

Enjoy folks

Topshop Polish Box Set

Hello Everyone!

Today I have for you a Topshop polish box set which my beloved got me a couple of weeks back. I'd been on at him about this set for ages, long enough to bug him so much that he bought it for me! :-) The box set contains 4 polishes, Beyond The Sea, Daredevil, Paint It On and limited polish Adornment.

Paint It On

A yummy raspberry red/pink polish. Only needed 2 coats.

Beyond The Sea

Gorgeous Teal Creme. Needed three coats. Looks slightly more green in the bottle, but when applied looks more blue.

Daredevil

Deliciously dark cherry red glitter polish. Vampy and Glossy. This is 3 coats. Started to rain when I took these (darn you British weather!)

Adornment

A purple sheer based jelly containing flakies! This was my favourite out of the collection! You can see that it's a bit too sheer on it's own. 4 coats and still a visible nail line. I'm going to use this baby for layering.

All of the polishes I liked in this collection. All applied well with Daredevil giving me slight problems, no biggy ones though. Application brush was good on all of these and drying time not too bad. A really good collection Topshop! Available for £15.00 in store and online. Looked online today and it appears they have released some new polishes. Country Bumpkin I want you!

Like any of these colours?
