Nubar - Midnight Glory

Hello Everyone

Happy Easter! Hope your all enjoying the holidays :-) Back to Nails today. Here is a Nubar polish I've had in my untrieds for a while - Midnight Glory.

Flash

Natural Light

This is 4 coats of Midnight Glory, a light sky blue with a pink to gold (with a slight hint of green) duochrome effect. Has a very ethereal feel to it. The name doesn't match at all, nothing 'Midnight' about it? Still a extremely pretty polish. Applied well and the layers built up nicely although 4 coats and still a slight visible nail line. Love Nubar duochromes, they are the best.

Have a great weekend

Topshop - Poison Ivy

Howdy Peoples

Green polish today! They cheer me up. I've been sporting China Glaze Westside Warrior mostly this week and I loves it. Now, a different kinda green...Topshop - Poison Ivy. A deep green shimmer, has an almost glass flecked  appearance, well contains smaller particles then say Zoya Edyta? (dunno if I'm making sense or talking doo doo but I shall continue)

Superb pigmentation in this one, only required 2 coats, and I was being extra again. Love the blackened look of Poison Ivy, the name reminds me of Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy Character in Batman and Robin.

Well, I couldn't leave it alone could I. Poison Ivy presented me with a marvelous opportunity to try my Colour Changing Topcoat on a dark green.

Again like my other experiments with this topcoat it changed the tone of Poison Ivy when layered over the top. Really complex I think, If your a fan of dark murky polishes, you might like this combo. I loved it (of course).

So was I done? Who Me? Never? I then went into a wild frenzy and decided that I needed something more...''Flakies!'' I told myself practically frothing at the mouth, ''I need flakies!!!''...So I then went a bit stupid and added a coat of Nubar 2010.

It actually didn't go too bad. A tad to far perhaps, but he who dares and all that malarky.

What do you think? Ever gone a step too far with a wild layering frenzy?

Olympia Beauty 2011

Hello All

Well I've been a serious busy bee in the last few days, I've really struggled to update any posts. Monday I attended Olympia Beauty in Kensington London. I had been looking forward to this for months, I've never attended Olympia Beauty before and I wasn't disappointed! All my favourite nail companies under one roof! I felt like I had died and gone to polish heaven. For those not familiar with Olympia Beauty, it's London's annual trade beauty show.

I have to be totally honest. I'm a bad blogger. I took hardly any photos of my day, and the pics I did get were cack. I was that rubbish my friend took over, probably because she was embarrassed at my photography skills. I swear, I took one pic at the OPI stand, and all I got was a blurred shot of OPI's Touring America collection and the sales woman's boobs! How bad is that! Oh well, my talents must lay elsewhere. Back to the show...

The show was jam packed full of beauty brands, obviously I was hunting for the Nail Polish brands. Stands at the show included, OPI, Misa, Nubar, Sparitual, Color Club, Jessica, China Glaze and so many more...pretty much all the big companies. The best stand for me by far was Nubar.

Not only were their staff extra helpful, they had a huge range of their collections on offer. Unfortunately they didn't have their new collection, the Polished Chic Autumn Collection, but boy they had some good stuff. I was spoilt for choice. Another fantastically organised, but much smaller stall was Color Club. I got a snap of their current Back to Boho Autumn Collection and the new Christmas collection, Beyond The Mistletoe.

The disppintment of the day came from the China Glaze stand. While they appeared to have quite a few polishes and an extentsive range, they had run out of a lot of shades, including Ghoulish Glow from their 2011 Halloween Collection. They was also running low on their Metro Collection polishes. If it's a two day show have enough stock for two days China Glaze please! The stall was a little bit messy too.

I had a brilliant day. The 10th Nailympics were also being held at the show, although I didn't get to see much of it to be honest. I did see some of the entrants designs though. They were amazing. Due to the Nailympics being held at Olympia Beauty, there was endless stands dedicated to nail product and tools (lucky me). There was however still plenty of other products on show, I even tried a liquid collagen drink!

The day wouldn't have been complete without me purchasing a few *cough* bottles of polish. I think I done really well in restraining myself and not buying MORE. Here are some pics of my haul.

OPI - Smokin Havana

China Glaze - Trendsetter, It's Alive

 Lots of Nubar Polishes

Nubar - Raspberry Truffle, Iris Dust, Wildlife, Sun Gold

Gold Aura, Whimsical Coral, Midnight Glory

Sparitual - Howl, Running with Wolves, Can You Dig It

OMG! I can't wait to swatch these. I was a seriously happy bunny when I left the show. I'm already looking forward to next year :-) I also purchased a Stargazer polish, which I haven't got a pic of, shade 245 I think? A representative at the Stargazer stand also confirmed that they no longer retail through New Look Stores. They are still however available online and in some independent stores and boutiques.

Did any of you UK bloggers make it?

It's Just an Illusion - Nubar

Hi-de-hi peoples

Well I'm back from Torquay. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend away! If you've never been to Torquay or Devon, I recommend it. The weather wasn't bad either. Torquay festival was on so lots of live music, performers and stalls. Even got treated to some polish while I was there!

Today I have for you another duochrome, Nubar - Indigo Illusion. Hope you're not sick of them :-)

Simply stunning. This is 3 coats, no topcoat (I've actually got some now though). Not much to say about this, it does all the talking on its own. Teal to purple to gold to pink duochrome.

Name reminds me of that 80s Imagination song - Just an Illusion. Bad hair and Bad miming - the good ole days :-) I'll leave the video link if like me you love dodgy 80s music. (click here)

Have fun and thanks for reading!

A little Gem

Hello Again

After that moany post, I thought well we all need a little sparkle. Here I have Nubar - Gem, a sparkly purple/brownish duochrome polish with holographic glitter from their Prism Collection. It's a beautiful polish and interesting colour. A bit textured as the glitter is quite chunky. This is 3 coats. Formula was good considering the glitter.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Barry M Red Black and a little Flakie Goodness

Hey Everyone

After my post about Nfu.Oh UK, I've had flakies on my mind a lot and needed some flakie goodness in my life. I started out with Barry M Red Black, a lovely dark red jelly polish. Really vampy and super gorgeous. I love these types of shades. I'm not really a girlie girl. It's not often I have pastels and pinks on.

This is 2 coats. Slightly runny, and had some bleeding round the nail (not literately). I probably could have cleaned up a bit better. Dries to a super glossy even finish. I then decided to get myself some of them flakies on my nail and applied two coats of Nubar 2010 which is a sheer polish containing multiple coloured flakes. I love this polish, it looks good over any colour. Light or dark.

I hope Nubar doesn't decided to discontinue this polish, especially now that Nfu.oh is so expensive. I used 2 coats of 2010. I bought this from Feelunique.com which delivers for free. I think I paid around £6 odd for it, although the price has now gone up to £7.25.

What do you think? To Flake or not to Flake?
