Leighton Denny - Doing Time

Hello everyone

Thought I would have a break from the Spring shades and show you one of my favourite polishes at the moment Leighton Denny's - Doing Time.

This is 2 coats of Doing Time. A khaki shade creme with golden shimmer. The khaki has a cool blue-ish tone, which I really like. The formula was perfect, the golden shimmer is noticable both in direct sunlight and in the shade. I stalked this on ebay for a while, but it was quite expensive. Luckily I found it in a box set in TK Maxx for a £10, along with some other Leighton Denny products.

What do you think of Doing Time?

p.s Leighton Denny has a new Spring/Summer 'Castaway Collection' which you can check out here.

New Boots 17 Spring Shade - Juicy

Hello Folks

More 17 Spring swatches! This time - Juicy. I can't t work out the finishes on these new Spring shades. Glisten was easy to categorise, but the others in the collection have a finish which I think is a mixture of a shimmer, jelly and creme.

Natural Sunlight

Shade

This is 3 coats of Juicy. A lime green polish containing green shimmer. Formula was slightly hard to work with, but again I think this is due to the texture of Juicy's finish. The shimmer did not show up as much as I would of liked, but a pretty shade of green still. Juicy is bright enough without being too neon looking,

What do you think of Juicy?

New Boots 17 Spring Shade - Glisten

Evening Peoples

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend. Spring is in the air and the weather is warming up. Pastel shades are out and about. Boots have released 4 new shades to their 17 collection which I picked up this week. Today I have for you one of the four - Glisten.

Natural Sunlight

Shade

This is 3 coats of Glisten. Loved this one on. Out of the four, I thought I wouldn't like this shade as it looked quite pinky but it surprised me. Glisten is a peachy/picky golden pearlescent shimmer. Formula was workable, and it built up nicely. Glisten is a shade which I think would work all the way through to the Summer. Glisten will definitely be adorning my nails for the next couple of months.

Price £2.99 although Boots are running a 3 for 2 offer at the moment. More swatches to follow of the rest of the Spring shades.

Not Impressed Glossy Box February

Hello Everyone

After the sudden departure of the Feelunique Beauty Box, I was worried I would get beauty box withdrawal symptoms. So I signed up for Glossy Box to gets my beauty box fix. It was more expensive then the Feelunique box as you have to pay postage on top of the £10.00 a month. I was willing to overlook that as the box promised '5 high end' samples each month.

Eyeshadow

Lip Tint

Included in this months box, was

BECCA- Beach Tint Watermelon
AWAPUHI WILD GINGER BY PAUL MITCHELL - Styling Treatment Oil
DR BRONNER'S MAGIC SOAPS - Lavender Hand Sanitiser
COMO SHAMBHALA - Invigorate Shower Gel
BM BEAUTY - Pure Mineral Eyeshadow in Her Majesty

Products were on the small side, and I wasn't impressed with the fact that I've seen on other reviews that some received a 6th product which did not (I think because of the age group). The worse thing for me was the hand sanitiser. I rarely swear on my blog, but believe me a few choice words were uttered when I saw this. Who the hell wants hand sanitiser! If I wanted to sign up for bacteria monthly I would have! seriously! So it's safe to say, while I haven't yet tried these products, I'm not impressed with this my first Glossy Box.

I'm willing to give everyone a second chance. To be fair, the box was well presented and I received the box within a good time. I'm seeing if Glossy Box improves for March. If not then ta ta, no thanks.

Illamasqua Baptiste vs W7 Purple Paradise

Howdy,

Today I have a comparison with Illamasqua's Baptiste to W7's Purple Paradise as requested. I thought when trying Baptiste it had similar properties to Purple Paradise. So on to the comparison.

As you can see, similar but not total dupes. Both Baptiste and Purple Paradise contain that gorgeous pink iridescent shimmer, although Baptiste is darker and blue toned. W7's Purple Paradise is more of a red toned purple. This is two coats of both on the comparison shots (can't remember on the full swatches?). Purple Paradise was thicker but had more of that glow while Baptiste was for me the better formula as it was more opaque in 1 coat and applied evenly.  Price wise, a big difference. Illasmasqua polishes retail for £13.50 each, while W7 retails at £1.99.

Do you need both? Erm... I'm going to say maybe as they are different toned purples on the same wave length. Depends on if you are a collector or a bargain hunter. Both polishes are stunning.

Elemis Freshskin Coming to Superdrugs

Hello Everyone

Hope your all well. I've had an amazing day today, as I attended Superdrug's Summer Launch Event held at the Haymarket hotel. Some great things are arriving at Superdrug in the Spring/Summer.

Elemis is launching a range in Superdrugs! I was so excited to see their new range. The Elemis Freshskin range will consist of 10 new products aimed 'for young skin with a bright future' Products will range between £8.00-£22.00 in price. Elemis aims to have these in-store from 30th March. I got to try out a few of their products, the lip balm was divine, very fresh with hints of peppermint oil and passionflower.

Heard also today that Superdrug in partnership with Pro Skin will be opening two skincare clinic within their stores (Kensington and Oxford Street, London). These clinics will be offering skin care treatments including laser hair removal, microdermabrashion, peels, facials and cellulite treatment. I was offered to try some of the treatments, although I would have felt a bit silly having a facial while everyone watches!

Other products I got to try was Glam Republic's Illusion Eyes, an eyeline applique (basically stick on eyeliner), and We Are Faux False Eyelash range (These rocked, some amazing designs). My day wouldn't have been complete without sussing out some nail polish. Highlight of the day? Getting to meet Andrea Fulerton in person!. Had a quick chat (as you do) about Flakie nail polishes and the difficulties in source the materials in the UK due to licensing. Andrea also has a new range coming out for the spring, a range of 6 pastel shades, which I never got the chance to photograph, although there is a lovely coral creme called Debbie and a nude shimmer called Mathew. I also tried out a lilac creme called Emma

Fashionista Merged Bronzers (available May)

Some Gosh new nail colours, not sure when these are available? I did ask what happened to the Winter collection including the shade Mystical, but no one appears to know if the winter collection was released or not. It is a mystery?

Accesorize Spirng Collection (available now). Didn't get all the names, although the terracotta colour is called Nevada which had a copper shimmer to it (one to look for). One of the others is called Wyoming but can't remember which one?! Argh I'm terrible at this press lark.

MUA BB Foundation (Available March)

There are loads of other products hitting the shelves in the Spring/Summer including BeautyUk's 'Posh Polish' collections, a Olympic Foil Collection (3 shades Gold, Silver and Bronze) and the Gemstone Collection 6 Shades (Amethyst, Sunstone, Topaz, Silmari, Elfstone and Moostone). These should be available from 14th March.

So anyone excited about some of the products featured?

A-England Legend Collection - St George

Evening Everyone

Today I have swatches which I took a couple of weeks back of A-England's - St George. This is the final polish I ordered from the Legend Collection.

Natural Light

Flash

This is 2 coats of St George, applied well and it had great coverage. St George is deep teal holo. Colour on this is very bright and vibrant, simply gorgeous.

Really wish there was a deep red holo in this collection, I think Adina @ A-England would do a great job at making a deep maroon jelly holo mmmmm.

Once again this collection is available from A-England directly here £9.00 each.

An OMG Disaster - China Glaze GR8

Howdy Peeps

For those who didn't see on twitter, I recently suffered a polish casualty. I broke my only bottle of China Glaze OMG GR8. I was distraught to say the least. The worst thing is I had only used it twice!

Well, after mopping up the remnants, I noticed I had a little bit left in the bottom of the bottle. So I decanted the rest into an empty bottle. Here are a couple of swatches. Luckily since I've able been able to get myself a new bottle :-) :-) :-)  GR8 is probably the least revered out of the OMGs, so it was still relatively cheap (well cheaper than the others!)

Flash

Anyone else had any polish casualties? Which polish would you most miss?

A-England Legends Collection - Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes)

Morning Everyone

Feeling the Monday blues? Didn't the weekend fly by. I didn't catch up on my washing or anything. Such a lazy mare!/ Today's post is A-England's - Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes). I was really intrigued by this one as I haven't got anything like it in my collection.

Natural Sunlight

Flash

This is 2 coats of Princess Sabra. Formula was of course perfect. Colour was completely unexpected. I was thinking it would be much more gold. Princess Sabra is a gorgeous holo with tones of khaki, gold, taupe and grey. Not sure if it suited my skin tone, but who cares! Definitely a unique polish.

Which Legends polish is your fav? Which which you pick?
