For those who didn't see on twitter, I recently suffered a polish casualty. I broke my only bottle of China Glaze OMG GR8. I was distraught to say the least. The worst thing is I had only used it twice!
Well, after mopping up the remnants, I noticed I had a little bit left in the bottom of the bottle. So I decanted the rest into an empty bottle. Here are a couple of swatches. Luckily since I've able been able to get myself a new bottle :-) :-) :-) GR8 is probably the least revered out of the OMGs, so it was still relatively cheap (well cheaper than the others!)

Anyone else had any polish casualties? Which polish would you most miss?
Tee Dee xx
I've never lost one I really cared about but once I was shaking a bottle of Sally Hansen Aquamarine Chrome and the bottle broke, sending metallic blue all over me, the sink, the walls and the floor. It took me 2 hours to clean it all with remover. To this day you can see Aquamarine in the grout.
ReplyDeleteUgh my only bottle of OPI DS Fantasy broke during my cross-country move. How sad, and I don't anticipate being able to afford another! However, I had worn it once for almost a whole week, so that definitely softened the blow :)
ReplyDeleteI would be really sad if my ChG Moonpool, OPI DS Glamour or OPI Jasper Jade broke, mostly because they are hard to find/expensive and lovely, but honestly I would really miss Zoya Yara if it died because although it's not LE or HTF I adore that polish!
Glad you were able to replace GR8, although its not the most popular OMG it sure is lovely ;D
@MK oh god! Bet that was a nightmare to clean up. Luckily I had no stain-age with GR8.
ReplyDeleteOMG! It's a real disaster taking into account how hard it is to get GR*. it's good that at least something left.
ReplyDeleteI had only one case with China Glaze Foxy. I really loved that color:(
@7bridges. Losing a OPI DS must of sucked, Fantasy is one pretty polish. I'll have to try Yara, I don't have many Zoyas in my collection
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! such a shame about the bottle but at least you rescued most of it!

I once saw a blog post about someone who had a bottle of Connect the Dots mailed to her and when she opened the package it was broken! I would die a little if that ever happened to me!
ReplyDeleteI lost my china glaze dance baby the same way, it was so upsetting.
ReplyDeleteNot so much with the bottle itself, but I am forever spilling polish on my lovely duvet covers...ooops! xx

I tried this just now but my iPad barfed on it, so I'll try again!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the US for nearly 3 weeks at the moment and on the way here a bottle of Andrea Fulerton Mischa broke. Quite a mess and a shame as I liked the polish but not a true disaster. I realised afterwards that it was the only non purple based polish I had brought with me. So a variety of purples it is for me over the next 3 weeks... unless I should hpej upon some bargains in the shops out here...
Oh no!!!! I'm glad you were able to save some of it though. I broke a brand new E.L.F. polish that I bought. Thank goodness it was only E.L.F. It looked really pretty and I was sad about it, but it wasn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteI have a simillar one however this one looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI know its terrible, but I kinda feel better hearing all your stories. Now I don't feel so bad, thanks lol x
ReplyDelete@Andy, shame about Mischa, but lucky you on being in the states! I'm dying to get back to the US for some polish. I'm sure you'll find some bargains over there ;-)
ReplyDeleteLuckily you could de-cant this polish. I had a BAD mishap. I was on holiday, and went nail polish hunting, and came across Jessica's Holo top coat. I was so excited to show my ma my brand new polishs and was shaking it to show her the effect, but it fell out of my hand and landed on the marble floor, smashing into loads of pieces. I was mortified, I couldn't even salvage it. :o( Went back to the store the following day to purchase it again. :o)
ReplyDeleteMy most vexing polish moment was when my only Deborah Lippmann, Happy Birthday, went spinning down to the carpeted floor, flinging precious glitter on my pajamas (it is still there) and carpet.
ReplyDeleteI was able to pick the glitter pieces from the carpet, at least the landlord didn't see any! Hahahahaaaa
The spill on my pjs went unnoticed until it was dried. I don't mind, it is near the ankle of my leopard print pants, so no one knows but me. Weirdly I am kind of fond of this secret glitter adornment.
I also stupidly gave away a polish, DS Vintage, then later when I saw it swatched on my nail wheel, I realized it was the MOST HOLO of all the DS polishes I had. I replaced it at five times what I paid originally. It was so weird, I have one almost like it, DS Couture, but I NEEDED vintage restored, period.
My heart goes out to you who have suffered polish disappointments of various proportions. It is nice that you were able to replace the lost polish in this case. I know my polish is important to me, and replacing a lost one can feel so much better!
